About Dr. Brandon Weiss

Brandon Weiss, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Weiss is committed to providing evidence-based, compassionate care for individuals navigating the challenges of posttraumatic stress, depression, anxiety, and sleep-related difficulties. With a clinical foundation built at world-leading institutions, including Johns Hopkins, UCSD, and Imperial College London, he is licensed to provide psychotherapy via PSYPACT to clients across most U.S. states.

Clinical Philosophy

Dr. Weiss specializes in integrative, culturally attuned psychotherapy. He recognizes that no two individuals are the same, and he draws from a diverse toolkit of evidence-based treatments to tailor care to your specific needs:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helping you identify and shift the thought patterns that keep you stuck.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Providing practical skills for emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness in high-stress moments.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Focusing on psychological flexibility to help you live more aligned with your personal values.

Whether you are seeking recovery from a specific traumatic event or looking to better manage chronic anxiety, Dr. Weiss approaches every session with scientific rigor and human-centered care.

Clinical Leadership & Expertise

Dr. Weiss leads clinical trials and provides specialized psychotherapy for PTSD and Veteran health. With over a decade of clinical experience, he serves as a lead psychotherapist, facilitator, and supervisor for both psychedelic-assisted and traditional trauma-focused therapies.

In the psychedelic field, Dr. Weiss is an expert practitioner across the full continuum of care—including preparation, the psychedelic experience itself, and integration. His perspective is uniquely informed by both Western clinical science and non-Western healing traditions, such as those of the Shipibo-Conibo people of the Amazon.

Integration & Harm Reduction

As psychedelic use increases, often within unsupportive or unregulated contexts, many individuals encounter distress that extends beyond the experience itself. Dr. Weiss provides psychological support and integration services for those seeking to:

  • Assess Risks: Understand the complex mental health considerations prior to an experience.

  • Integrate Insights: Hold space for making sense of an experience and its implications for the future.

  • Resolve Distress: Find grounded guidance for difficulties or destabilization following psychedelic use.

The Psychotherapeutic Path

  1. Initial Connection: The process begins with a free phone consultation.

  2. Comprehensive Assessment: Clients undergo psychological assessment to guide Dr. Weiss’s clinical conceptualization and the setting of therapeutic priorities.

  3. Collaborative Planning: We develop a treatment plan together, tailored to your specific goals and history.

  4. Ongoing Care: Therapy typically involves weekly 60-minute sessions. The duration of care is flexible, evolving alongside your progress and shifting priorities.
