Axial Therapeutic Research
Our Mission
Axial Therapeutic Research (ATR) is an observational research organization dedicated to evaluating the safety and efficacy of novel treatments for the world’s most intractable mental health challenges.
Founded by Dr. Brandon Weiss, ATR was born from a critical need to address the crisis facing U.S. Veterans. After years within the traditional healthcare system, Dr. Weiss recognized that complacency and resource inefficiency often leave those in the greatest need behind. ATR was established to disrupt this climate through the rigorous investigation of promising experimental therapies—specifically those that empower individuals to confront the source of their pain and rediscover latent meaning and purpose.
Our name is inspired by the Axial Age (circa 800–200 BCE), a pivotal era when human cognition evolved the capacity for meta-awareness—the mind’s ability to reflect on its own processes. At ATR, we believe this "axial capacity" is the key to illuminating new possibilities for healing and human development.
Our Mission: To investigate therapies that help Veterans observe entrenched patterns, feel love and peace, and enact new possibilities.
ATR investigates therapies that empower Veterans to observe entrenched patterns, experience profound peace, and enact new possibilities for their lives.
Since 2021, our primary focus has been The Trifecta Study. This landmark observational project examines the safety and therapeutic efficacy of three experimental modalities in treating Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)-related post-concussive syndrome, treatment-resistant depression, and PTSD within the Special Operations Forces (SOF) community.
In partnership with the Special Operations Care-Fund (SOC-F), ATR is committed to a high-integrity, evidence-first mission. We are driven by the pursuit of real answers. Our goal is to identify which therapies truly deliver the tools for repair, peace, and purpose that our Veterans deserve.
